VILLE PLATTE – Funeral Services will be held at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte, on Monday, October 4, 2021, for Allen Joseph Monier, 88, who passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Father Tom Voorhies, pastor at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and conduct services.
Entombment will take place in Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
Allen Joseph Monier was born on November 27, 1932, in Point Blue, LA to Marcellus and Izola Soileau Monier. He opened Allen’s Barber Shop in 1968; where he served as owner for 64 years. Allen truly loved his job, visiting with his customers, and making people laugh. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all those who loved him.
Allen is survived by his son David Allen Monier and wife, Diana of Pine Prairie; grandson, Nicholas Allen Monier and wife, Brittany LaFleur Monier; and four great-grandchildren, Carter, Aleena, Paxton, and Vandi Jane.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Jane Higginbotham Monier; parents, Marcellus and Izola Soileau Monier; and brother, Joseph Ellis Monier.
At the request of the family visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home on Sunday, October 3, 2021, from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Tim Donovan on Sunday at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, October 4, 2021, from 8:00 AM until time of service.
