Audley Soileau

VILLE PLATTE – Funeral Services will be held at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Church in Ville Platte, on Thursday, December 17, 2020 for Audley Gaynor Soileau, 87, who passed away peacefully on December 14, 2020 in Ville Platte.

Father Tom Voorhies, pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass.

Interment will take place at Gates of Heaven cemetery.

Judge Audley Gaynor Soileau was born in Ville Platte on December 26, 1932 to Audley and Alice Ste. Marie Soileau.   Gaynor was a devout catholic and a member of Our Lady Queen of All Saints Church since its founding in 1969.   He was a lector and served on the parish council and the choir.   He was an avid outdoorsman and rarely missed an opportunity to wet a fishing line or make a quick squirrel hunt.   On these outings he could usually be found in the company of close friends and family.   He was first and foremost a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and friend to many.   His responsibilities in this regard were never taken lightly, as all who knew him could attest.   Gaynor was dedicated also to his country and his community having served in the U.S. Army and as a parish school board member, State tax appeals board member and District Judge.

While he will be missed dearly by all, we know that by dying he begins a new life and will become a more powerful force of spiritual life for us by his prayers before the Divine Majesty in heaven, for it is the Lord who has directed his every step through his many years with us.  It is the God he loved so much who will now keep him as one of His chosen every moment of eternity.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Lemoine Soileau; sons, Michael Soileau, Scotty Soileau, and Chuck Soileau; daughters, Kitty Vindeola and Tobi Brown; brother, David Soileau; sister, Lisa Soileau; ten grandchildren, Megan, Joey, Aaron, Grace, Addie, Bucky, Bo, Josie, Emma, and Andrew; and nine great grandchildren Kaylee, Jack, Elouise, Stella, Abram, Jesse, Anna, Nylah, and Madison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Audley J. and Alice Ste. Marie Soileau; sisters, Khaki Fontenot and Gay Pucheu; and grandson, Chris Soileau.

At the request of the family, visitation will take place at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 11:00 AM until time of service.  A rosary will be recited at 1:00 PM.  Masks and social distancing will be required of all who attend visitation and services.  There will be no reception following the services.
