PINE PRAIRIE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM at St. Peter Catholic Church in Pine Prairie on Monday, September 24, 2018, for Ethel Marie Fontenot, 76, who passed away on September 22, 2018 in Pine Prairie, LA.

Father Kenneth Mayne, pastor of St. Peter Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and will conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in the Fontenot Cemetery.

Born in St. Landry, LA on October 30, 1941 to Ambrose Andrus and Julia Rider Andrus. She worked in Dietary at Prairie Manor Nursing Home for 15 years. Ethel was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother. She served as Prairie Manor 2017 Boggy Bayou Queen. Ethel was an active parishioner at St. Peter Catholic Church where she volunteered at the thrift store. She loved gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her three daughters, Stephanie Ardoin and companion, Bobby Cole of Mamou, Angie Manuel and husband Eric of Pine Prairie and Shannon Barrilleaux and husband Johnny of Morgan City; two sons, Mark Fontenot and companion Tessie Beene of Bayou Chicot and Stephen Fontenot and wife Melissa of Pine Prairie; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter and her special friend, Angie Smith of Ville Platte.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald Fontenot; two infant daughters, Catherine and Veronica Fontenot; her grandson, Brett Fontenot; her granddaughter, Rhonda Ardoin; great-granddaughter, Sara Ardoin; son-in-law, Michael Ardoin; two sisters, Macky McNapsy and Maxie Lutz; two brothers, A.M. Andrus and Daniel Andrus; and her special friend, Senia Guillory.

The family requests that visitation be observed at St. Peter Catholic Church of Pine Prairie on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 12:00 PM until time of service on Monday. A rosary will be recited on Sunday at 4:00.
