Evelyn Fontenot

VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Friday, January 27, 2023, for Evelyn Soileau Fontenot, 93, who passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023.

Father Mitch Guidry will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct funeral services. Internment will take place in Evangeline Memorial Park.

Evelyn Soileau Fontenot was born November 21, 1929, in Washington, LA to John Belouse Soileau and Bernadette Ortego Soileau.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Hal Dane Fontenot and wife, Sue Lafleur; her daughter, Shelley Fontenot Hamlin and husband, Bobby Max Hamlin II; 5 grandchildren: Bobby Max “Macky” Hamlin III, Joseph Liverty “Joey” Hamlin, John Hamlin, Donnie Paul Fontenot, and Shawn Fontenot; and she is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, John Belouse Soileau and Bernadette Ortego Soileau; her husband, Liverty Fontenot; her siblings, Rapheal Soileau, Herman Soileau, Donald Soileau, Isabelle Vidrine, Alice Drummond, Lucille Guillory, and Stella Mayeaux.

At the request of the family, visitation will be observed at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM. A rosary will be recited at 2:30. Mass to follow after the rosary.
