BAYOU CHICOT - Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM for Francis "Jonnie" Allen, 72, at Bayou Chicot Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, who passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Mercy Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones.

Ross Ford will be conducting the funeral services.

Rite of Committal will take place at Vandenburg Cemetery.

Francis, or "Jonnie" as she was known by many of her family and friends, touched countless lives in the community. She began her career as a nurse, and spent more than 30 years as a nurse at Ville Platte Medical Center and in Oakdale. Mrs. Jonnie delivered many babies during her long nursing career. This mother of 3 enjoyed cooking, flowers and her garden. She was known by all the locals around the area for her "Truck Garden". Mrs. Jonnie took pride in her garden, and she gave majority of her produce to the locals. Her kind, nurturing, giving and caring ways made her an amazing caretaker. She loved doing for others. Mrs. Jonnie was an extraordinary cook, and at some time or another she had fed everyone in the Bayou Chicot area. Mrs. Jonnie was an extraordinary woman. There are many in the community who will deeply mourn her passing as her life was a life of service, love, compassion and excellence. May she rest in peace.

Her memories will live on through her family. Mrs. Jonnie is survived by her son, Charles "Jimmy" Allen; daughter, Adrienne Bozeman and husband Craig; brothers, Bennie Helmer and wife Ellen and Bobby Helmer and wife Janice; sisters, Muriel "Bit" Self, Donna Fontenot and husband Randy, and Candy Griffith and husband Cody; grandchildren, Casey, Maxwell, Martin Alexander, Isabella, Corey and Ryan; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous well-loved nieces and nephews.

Jonnie is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Roy "Bud" Allen, Jr.; parents, Laurant and Eudora Helmer; son, Joseph Allen and sister, Linda Brunet and husband Harris.

The family request that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 5:30 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will resume Wednesday at Bayou Chicot Methodist Church from 9:00 AM until time of service.
