VILLE PLATTE – Funeral Services will be held at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Friday, June 26, 2020, for Frenella Fontenot Saucier, 82, who passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 in Ville PLatte, LA surrounded by her loving family.
Father Tom Voorhies, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and conduct funeral services.
Burial will take place in Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery.
Frenella Fontenot Saucier was born on October 11, 1937 in Mamou, LA to Nelson and Lelia Johnson Fontenot. Frenella was a longtime member of the Cajun Wings Campers Club. She was an active member of the Ville Platte FCE Club and was a 4H volunteer for many years. Over the years she wore many hats and served on many committees and held many offices with the 4H and the Homemakers Club. She was named homemaker of the year numerous times and served as FCE vice-president. Frenella would bake a special cake every year that would be auctioned at the parish Livestock Show. She and her family supported many local organizations and church fundraisers. Her passion for serving others and love of his community touched the lives of many. She left a mark on her community that will never be forgotten. Her family meant the world to her and she loved them immensely. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by those that knew her.
Frenella is survived by her four sons, James Curt Saucier and wife Lisa of Ville Platte, Kent Saucier and wife Tina of Ville Platte, Kevin Saucier and wife Rose of Wise, VA., and Keith Saucier and wife Rachael of Ville Platte; three daughters, Phyllis Saucier LeBlanc and significant other Calvin Adams of Ville Platte, Pheobe Deshotel and husband Kaylor of Ville Platte, and Pamela Schmidt and husband Keith of Holly Lake Ranch, TX; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Evanna Fontenot of Ville Platte; and brother, Delvin Fontenot and wife Georgie of Baton Rouge.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Lelia Johnson Fontenot; husband, Rollins Saucier; two grandchildren, Jamie Lee Deshotel and Johnathon Taylor Deshotel; four brothers,Mack Fontenot, Virgil Fontenot, Eduis Fontenot, and Rodrick Fontenot; and one sister, Dagment Ankeny.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Chuck Ortego at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday, June 26, 2020 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
