VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of all Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Monday, January 3, 2022 for Hazel Duplechain Guillory, 86, who passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021.
Father Jason Vidrine will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.
Burial will take place in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
Hazel Marie Duplechain was born in Gueydan, Louisiana on April 21, 1935 to Dupre Duplechin, Jr. and Martha Thomas Duplechin. Hazel was a very talented seamstress and sewed beautiful clothes for herself and her family. She married the love of her life, Raymond Guillory, and spent the next 55 years together. They shared their strong Catholic Faith with their children and taught them by example the importance of having God in your life. Hazel believed the best way to help her loved ones was to pray a rosary daily asking the Blessed Mother for her blessings and guidance for them. Hazel also enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens and bringing new things to life. This caring and loving lady will be greatly missed by those that loved her.
Hazel is survived by her four daughters, Shirley Guillory Godwin and husband, Mike of Ville Platte, Jean Guillory Janvier of Turkey Creek, Debra “Debbie” Guillory Blood and husband, David of Ville Platte, and Janice Guillory Fontenot and husband, Mark of Ville Platte; 16 grandchildren, Michael Blevins, Kenneth Blevins, Timothy Blood, Joseph Blood, James “Jimbo” Blood, Brandy Bordelon Duhon, Brittany Bordelon Hunley, David Luc Bordelon, Mignon Vidrine Fisher, Victoria Vidrine Roddy, Jamie Vidrine, Fr. Jason Vidrine, Dana Vidrine James, Ashley Lavergne, Jacob Foret, and Jorden Seth Foret; 35 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; sister, Linda Duplechin McWhirter, and husband Winczel; and brother, Joseph Riley Duplechin.
She is preceded in death by her father, Dupre Joseph Duplechin, Sr.; mother Martha Thomas Duplechin; husband, Raymond Guillory; son, Kenneth James Guillory; brothers, Dupre Joseph Duplechin, Jr., Joseph Mentor Duplechin, Simon Duplechin, Carroll Duplechin and Joseph Leon Duplechain; and sisters Earline Duplechin McMillen and Betty Duplechin Thibodeaux.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 8:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be prayed in her honor Sunday evening at 6:00 PM.
Pallbearers for the service are: Kenneth Blevins, Joseph Blood, David Luc Bordelon, Jamie Vidrine, Jacob Foret, and Jorden Seth Foret.
