VILLE PLATTE It is with great sadness that the family of Elaine Mac Arthur, 89, announces her passing on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Opelousas General Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church of Ville Platte on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM. Rite of Committal will follow at the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery with Fr. Mitchell Guidry acting as Celebrant.
A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother Elaine is survived by her son, Gerald Jerry Neal Ardoin of Prairieville and her daughter, Phyllis A. Gibson and her husband, Ray, of Dry Prong. Her memory will most certainly be cherished by her five grandchildren, Jereme Ardoin, Meredith A. LaFleur, Joseph Ardoin, Neal Gibson and Ted Gibson. She also leaves behind nine great grandchildren they were truly the light of her life.
Elaine was a devoted member of the Catholic Church which brought her great comfort throughout her life. She worked for the Louisiana Department of Social Services as a Social Worker until her retirement. She was also an active member of the Cajunettes Club, an avid gardener and a wonderful cook, but her true joy was her family and dear friends she will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She now joins in Heaven, her first husband and the father of her children, Lowry B. Ardoin, her second husband, Spencer Mac Arthur, her parents, W. J. and Lydia Russell, one brother, Lloyd Russell and one granddaughter, Danielle Ardoin. They await her arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home of Ville Platte beginning at 8:00 AM Thursday, March 8, 2012 and will continue until the time of the services. Her soninlaw, Deacon Ray Gibson, will recite a Rosary in her honor at 1:00 PM that afternoon.
