VILLE PLATTEIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of James Jimmy David Fontenot announces his passing on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at his residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church of Ville Platte. Rite of Committal will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum, also in Ville Platte. Fr. Gil Dutel will be officiating the services along with Fr. Mitchell Guidry.
Jimmy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, soninlaw and brother. He leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Debra Soileau Fontenot and his three sons: Ryan Paul Fontenot and his wife, Hope, of Kingwood, Tx., Justin Kyle Fontenot and his wife, Michelle, of Youngsville and Neil Patrick Fontenot and his wife, Jennifer, of Grand Prairie. He is also survived by his father, Oswald Fontenot, of Ville Platte and five siblings: Joseph Oswald Fontenot Jr. and his wife, Lynda, of Bayou Chicot, James Billy Ray Fontenot and his wife, Cynthia, also of Bayou Chicot, Mitchel Lewis Fontenot and his wife, Addie Bell, of St. Landry, Sandra Faye Tougas and her husband, James, of Fargo, North Dakota and Rowena Marie Fontenot and husband, Dickie, of Ville Platte. He also leaves behind his motherinlaw, Ora Ella Soileau, of Ville Platte. His memory will most certainly be cherished by his four precious grandchildren: Lyndsey Alyssa, Gabrielle Laine, Landry Elizabeth and Anderson Kyle Fontenot they were truly the light of his life. He will be mourned by a host of other loving family members.
Jimmy was an avid hunter and fisherman he loved all things outdoors. He will be sorely missed by his countless friends, all of whom enjoyed his fish stories and hardy laugh. But his true joy was his beloved family and the love of his life and best friend, his loving wife, Debbie.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Fontenot, one sister, Norma Rose Fontenot and his fatherinlaw, Joseph Calvin Soileau. They await his arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home of Ville Platte beginning at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 18, 2012 until 10:00 PM that evening and again Thursday morning from 8:00 AM until time of services. A Rosary will be recited in his honor Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM led by Fr. Randy Moreau.
