VILLE PLATTE – Funeral Services will be held at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Monday, August 10, 2020 for Jessie Wayne Fontenot, 76, who passed away on August 8, 2020.
Father Mitch Guidry, pastor of Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and conduct services.
Burial will take place in Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
Jessie Wayne Fontenot was born on January 1, 1944 in Ville Platte, LA to Elba Fontenot, Sr. and Elsie Latiolais Fontenot. Jessie was a carpenter by trade. He enjoyed visiting and drinking coffee with his relatives and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Jessie will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lena Fontenot; two sons, Jessie S. Fontenot and wife, Jessica of Eunice and Kurt Fontenot and companion, Mary Thrasher of Ville Platte; two daughters, Denise Fontenot and husband, Bobby and Monique Soileau both of Eunice; 14 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one brother, Rodney Fontenot and wife, Mary of Ville Platte; two sisters, Anna Lavergne and husband, Ray of Ville Platte and Jane Savant and husband, Herman of Eunice.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Alexis Monique Soileau; and three brothers, Tony Fontenot, Rolland Fontenot and Elba Fontenot, Jr.
At the request of the family, visitation will take place at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Sunday, August 9, 2020 beginning at 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM. A rosary will be prayed in his honor at 4:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, August 10, 2020 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
