VILLE PLATTE - A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, for John Shirley Guillory, Sr., 86, who passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Lafayette General surrounded by his loved ones.

Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Father Kenny Mayne, Pastor at St. Peter Catholic Church in Pine Prairie, will be conducting all Funeral Services.

John Shirley Guillory served as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. After service to his country he graduated from SLI now ULL in Lafayette where he received his Bachelor of Science. He became a student at Northwestern State University, in Natchitoches, where he received his Master's in Education. Proceeding this Mr. John Shirley became an educator of science and agriculture at Mamou ,then Vice Principle of Evangeline Academy in Vidrine. Following his life as a scholar, he became a director of public health for the state of Louisiana. All the while he has maintained a humble farmer's life and a loving relationship with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara Lafleur Guillory; daughter, Jodi Guillory Miller and husband James of Lafayette; sons, Guy S. Guillory and wife Rhonda of Ville Platte, Todd A. Guillory and wife Rosemary of League City, TX, Doug A. Guillory of Lafayette, and Toby J. Guillory and wife Michelle of Rosedale, LA; grandchildren, Rikki Dawn White, Nikki Dupre Gaspard, Dirk Fontenot, Casey Guillory, Jake Miller, Quinton Miller, Meagan Miller, Luke Guillory, Erin Caraway, Leslie Guillory, Brock Guillory, Amber Guillory, Ceph Guillory, Sidney Rose Guillory, Zackary John Guillory, and Adam Todd Guillory; great-grandchildren, Wyatt John Meyers, Marty Miller, Parker Miller, Addison Guillory, Anna Claire Guillory, and Garrett Caraway,V.; brother, Larry Gene Guillory and wife Mae of Ville Platte; and daughter-in-law Belinda Vidrine Guillory.

John Shirley was preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Nita Fontenot Guillory; son, John S. Guillory, Jr.; and granddaughter, Morgan Ann Guillory.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 9:00 AM until time of service. A rosary led by Deacon Ben Soileau will be prayed in his honor at 12:15 PM on Wednesday.
