Joseph Billeaudeau

VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 11:30 AM for Joseph “Kearnis” Billeaudeau, 71, who passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 in Pine Prairie.  Father Tom Voohries will conduct funeral service and be celebrant of the Mass.

Burial will follow in the White’s Chapel Cemetery in Bunkie, Louisiana with Brother Larry Johnson conducting a graveside service.

Joseph “Kearnis” Billeaudeau was born in Ville Platte, Louisiana on October 1, 1949 to Will and Clemance Charlie Billeaudeau.  He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He also loved growing a garden every year that was as full and beautiful as his spirit.  Kearnis was a devoted, husband, father, and grandfather involved in his community as he was a longtime volunteer fireman for the Ville Platte Fire Department. He worked for the DOTD for 25 years and along with his wife, was a former owner of the Evangeline Feed Store.  Kearnis’ life revolved around his family, teaching them life skills, and always ensuring their happiness, especially his dearly loved grandsons.  Kearnis never met at stranger and the lives that he touched stretch far and wide.  His family and friends will miss him greatly and will always hold onto their precious memories.

Kearnis is survived by his wife, Faye Himel Billeaudeau of Pine Prairie; two daughters, Tricia Ferguson of Bayou Chicot and Angela Billeaudeau of Ville Platte; three grandsons, Derek Ferguson of Church Point, Chance Ferguson of Bayou Chicot, and Kade Johnson of Pine Prairie; two sisters, Jonell Stagg of Bunkie and Dianna Billeaudeau of Ville Platte; and brother, Kenneth Billeaudeau of Ville Platte.

He is preceded in death by parents, Will and Clemance Charlie Billeaudeau; brother, Clyde Billeaudeau; and sister, Verlia Stagg.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 8:00 AM until time of service.  A rosary will be prayed in his honor on Friday evening at 5:00 PM and will be led by Deacon Ben Soileau.

Pallbearers to serve are:  Derek Ferguson, Chance Ferguson, Kade Johnson, Richard Williams, Robbie Lutz, and Bryan Lutz.
