VILLE PLATTE It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Luna Fontenot, 92, announces her passing on Thursday, December 01, 2011 at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Pine Prairie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 05, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Rite of Committal will follow at the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery, also in Ville Platte, with Father Garrett McIntyre as Celebrant.
A devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Luna is survived by her two sons, Steve Fontenot and his wife, Brenda, of Ville Platte and Terry Fontenot and his wife, Mona, of Lafayette. Her memory will most certainly be cherished by her five grandchildren and her five great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of other family and friends. Her greatest love was taking care of her family but she also enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time in the garden.
She now joins in Heaven, her beloved husband, Muslin J. Fontenot, her parents, Louis and Onesia Fontenot Ortego and six brothers and five sisters. They await her arrival with open arms and joyful hearts.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Ville Platte beginning Sunday, December 04, 2011 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue Monday, December 05, 2011 from 8:00 AM until time of services. A Rosary will be recited Sunday evening at 6:00 PM.
