VILLE PLATTE – It is with great sadness that the family of Mitchell Joseph Soileau announces his passing on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at the age of 67. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of all Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Funeral services will be conducted by Father Mitch Guidry.
Mitchell Joseph Soileau was born on October 1,1955 to John B. and Rose Emily Stromer Soileau. He was a lifelong resident of Ville Platte and a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. Mitch enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with friends hunting and camping. After graduating high school Mitch completed two years at USL studying history and literature and then began his chosen career as an electrician. Mitch became a master electrician and his work allowed him to travel to many different places throughout the country, including the North slopes of Alaska, as well as overseas working throughout Europe. He loved his family dearly and although his work took him away from home often, he was in constant touch with them. Later in his career, he worked as an electrical quality assurance inspector. Mitch was also an avid reader with history being his favorite subject. After retirement, Mitch enjoyed visiting with his family, reading, and spending time with his dog Harry.
He will be deeply missed by his two brothers, Deacon Ben Soileau and wife, Donna and Greg Soileau and wife, Darlene, all of Ville Platte; nephew, John Ben Soileau, III; and nieces, Jessica Soileau, Jennifer Veillon, Hillary Meyer, and numerous great nephews and nieces. Mitch is preceded in death by his parents, John B. Soileau, Sr. and Rose Emily Stromer Soileau.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church beginning at 11:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 12:00 PM by his brother Deacon Ben Soileau.
