VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of all Saints Catholic Church in Ville Plate on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 for Rapheal Fontenot, 77, who passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020 in Ville Platte surrounded by his loved ones.
Father Mitch Guidry will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.
Burial will take place in the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rapheal Fontenot was born in Ville Platte on January 28, 1943 to Dovic B. Fontenot and Eleana Fontenot. Rapheal was a hard worker and gave every endeavor his all. Early in life, he worked for Win Dixie, National Food Store, and Kroger’s. For 18 years, he was a crane operator for Teledyne Moveable Company. Later in life, Rapheal opened and operated Ray’s General Store in Ville Platte for 15 years. His most important job and the one he treasured the most was taking care of his family and ensuring their happiness. During his leisure time, he enjoyed camping and fishing for blue and spotted catfish on the Red River. Rapheal will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by them.
Rapheal is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Mounier Fontenot; three daughters, Denise Fontenot and husband Dirk , Debbie Fontenot and husband Paul, and Laina Ann Fontenot and husband Shannon; 12 grandchildren, Shawna Maricle, Steven Kyle Fontenot, Sadie Fontenot, Maggie Richard, Gabriel Fontenot, Josie Fontenot, Rowen Stafford , Liam Stafford , Isabella Stafford, Elijah Stafford, and Salem Stafford; and eight great grandchildren, Cheyanne Maricle, Vayda Maricle, Jessie Paul Fontenot, Jonah Fontenot, Sammy Ray Fontenot, John Davis Fontenot, Charlene Richard, and Adalene Richard.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dovic B .Fontenot and Eleana Fontenot; grandson, Gavin Paul Fontenot; two sisters, Hasie F. Spellman and Evelye Fontenot; brothers in law, Frank Spellman and Webster Fontenot.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2020 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and again on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 8:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited on Monday evening at 7:00 PM led by Deacon Gene LeBouef.
