Una Lafleur

VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Monday, November 25, 2019 for Una LaFleur, 97, who passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019 in Broussard.

Father Tom Voohries will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery.

Una LaFleur was born in Ville Platte on November 29, 1921 to Ulyesses and Geneieve Fusilier Fontenot.  She was a devote Catholic who attended Mass regularly and often prayed the Rosary.  Una most enjoyed listening to music and dancing.  She was also known to enjoy sewing, cooking, and baking for her family, especially during the holidays.  She also had a wonderful sense of humor and a kind heart.  Her greatest enjoyment was taking care of her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Una will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her daughter Judith “Judy” Fontenot and husband Jimmy, three grandchildren Lisa Fontenot Grant and husband Carl, Stacy Fontenot Leblanc, and Rusty Fontenot and wife Catina; four great grandchildren, Jena Fontenot, Katie Grant, Ryder Fontenot, and Keigan Fontenot; niece Marilyn Vidrine and nephew Brent Manuel.

Una is preceded in death by her parents Ulyesses and Geneieve Fusilier Fontenot, husband of 55 years, Abel LaFleur, sisters Lucille Thibodeaux, Rose Brignac, Emma Lou Manuel, and Lillian Manuel, and brothers Louis Fontenot, Rufus Fontenot, and John Enick.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Monday at 8:00 AM until time of service.  A rosary will be recited on Sunday evening at 7:00 PM and will be led by Deacon Gene LeBouef.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Camelot of Broussard and Lourdes Hospice for their compassion and kindness to Mrs. Una.
