Wetta Cocke

VILLE PLATTE – Funeral Services will be held at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in St. Landry, on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, for Wetta Gayle Cocke, 81, who passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Father Kenneth Mayne will be celebrant of the mass and conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in St. Theresa’s Church Cemetery.

Wetta Gayle Cocke was born on January 24, 1940, in Ville Platte, LA to Joseph Havard Andrus and Ollie Fontenot Andrus.  She loved playing dominos and cards.  She enjoyed painting ceramic, crocheting, and driving around town.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend.  She loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Wayne Cocke; sons, Barry Wayne Cocke of Breaux Bridge and Tommy Brett Cocke and wife, Christina of Bayou Chicot; eight grandchildren, Jonathon Wayne Cocke, Colby James Cocke, Samuel Joseph Cocke, Kassie Nealy, Paige Reed, Journie Moses, Austin Reed and Steevie Cortina; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, and Connie Higginbotham and husband, Richard of Mire.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ollie Andrus; sister, Jennie Hollahan; and daughter in law, Angela Marie Cocke.

At the request of the family, visitation will take place at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, from 8:30 AM until time of service.
